How easy is it to self install the lid?

Q: How easy is it to self install the lid?

A: The Load Lid is a very simple unit to self install. You will require two people to lift it on and into place, once in place and positioned nice and straight on the wellside simply secure in the four corners with the no-drill clamping system. This will take you approx 15 minutes.

Sports Bar Compatible Load Lid: The only additional step with the sports bar lid is that the sports bar will need to be removed from the vehicle and mounted to the lid face plate. This is then installed as a complete unit.

Central Locking: The only other addition to the lid installation is if you opt for the central locking system. It is advised to have this installed by an Auto Electrician to ensure it is completed correctly. However, if you are confident in these types of tasks it is something you could look to self install by following our step by step instructions.

Additional checks that should be carried out once Lid is installed

You will need to test the slam lock system. As shown in the lid fitting instructions, the U Bolts may need to be adjusted once the lid is installed to the vehicle to ensure the locking system is latching and releasing correctly on both sides. The best way to test this is to open the load lid, close it as per normal and try to lift the lid upwards from the handle while closed to see if the locking system is latching correctly on both sides. Release the locking system with the locking handle and lift the lid open again, paying special attention to if the lid is releasing correctly on both side. Repeat this process a few times until you are satisfied it is latching and releasing correctly on both sides. If it is having latching/releasing issues, you will need to adjust the U Bolts in the appropriate direction to suit. Retest once adjusted.

Central Locking: Additional to the above, if the lid has the central locking system you will also need to test the functionality of this and make sure it is operating correctly - important to remember this operates the same as the vehicles central locking, if you unlock the vehicle/lid and do not open a door of the vehicle, it will re lock. Same as the lid, if you don't open it after unlocking vehicle, it will re lock with the vehicle.

Water Testing: The lid/vehicle will need to be water tested to ensure there are no leaks/it is fully weatherproof as intended.
