Q: Can the tailgate still be opened with lid shut/without opening the lid?

A: The load lid is designed with a locking/backing plate (small aluminium plate) that comes down off the handle and in front of the tail gate to help prevent it being able to be opened by someone trying to get into your wellside. This component of the handle can be removed to allow you access to the wellside when your lid is loaded if you would prefer. It can be simply removed by unbolting the load lid handle, removing the backing plate and then reinstalling the handle. Shorter bolts may be required.

Please note, opening and closing of the tailgate will over time cause damage to the perimeter seal of the load lid due to rubbing on this. This item is replaceable if required.
